AI writing tools
Get the article out
of your head, fast.
Populate a full article from a prompt with one click. Plus four AI tools inside the editor — format, clarify, fix grammar, convert to steps. Drafts always for human review. Fully optional.
The reason your wiki has gaps isn't laziness. It's writing time.
Every team knows the procedure. Every team has explained it on a call, in an email, in Slack. Almost no team has the time to turn that scattered explanation into a proper article. So the knowledge stays in people's heads, gets repeated by hand, and walks out the door when someone leaves.
What if turning your raw notes, half-finished drafts, and pasted email threads into a structured article took five minutes instead of an hour?
That's the gap the AI Writer fills.
Built into the article editor. Two surfaces.
The first surface is at the top of the article form: Populate with AI. One click, a prompt, and a fully populated draft article — title, visibility suggestion, category, tags, and content all set up for you to edit.
The second surface is the toolbar inside the rich article editor: four AI Assist tools. Format Article restructures messy content into proper article shape. Improve Clarity rewrites a paragraph for a wider audience. Fix Grammar handles polish. Convert to Steps turns prose into an ordered list.
The Writer works from what you give it. The prompt you type, the paragraph you highlight, the content you've already written. It doesn't pull from the rest of your knowledge base, and it doesn't browse the web for facts to fill gaps. If you need an answer grounded in your existing articles, that's what the AI Chatbot is for.
Every output is a draft. The human reads, edits, and publishes. Nothing goes live without you.
What the AI Writer does
One click to populate a full article, plus four AI tools inside the editor for shaping content as you write.
At the top of the article form
Populate with AI
One click at the top of the article form. Type a prompt, get a fully populated article: title suggestion, visibility suggestion, category, tags, and a content draft. All editable before publishing.
Working from your prompt only. The Writer doesn't pull facts from the rest of your knowledge base, doesn't browse the web, and doesn't invent details to fill gaps. Output stays in scope of what you asked for.
Four AI Assist tools inside the editor
Format Article
Restructure messy content into a proper article shape — headings, sections, lists where they fit. Useful when you've pasted notes that need a structural pass.
Improve Clarity
Rewrite a paragraph to be clearer for the reader. Useful when the source was written by a specialist for a specialist and the audience is wider.
Fix Grammar
Catch typos, fix tense slips, tighten phrasing. Doesn't change meaning, just polish.
Convert to Steps
Turn prose into an ordered list of steps. Useful when a procedure was written as flowing text but reads better as a numbered sequence.
Drafts always go to human review
Every output from Populate or the in-editor tools lands as a draft. Nothing publishes without you. Same draft-to-review model as for AI agents writing via MCP.
Who this is for
Solo founders writing their own KB
When you're the only person who knows how it works and you also have a job to do, the Writer turns "I should write this up" from a Saturday project into a Tuesday morning.
Ops teams capturing process
When you spent forty minutes explaining a refund policy on a call, the Writer takes the call notes and turns them into a proper article in five minutes.
Customer success teams maintaining help articles
When the product changed and twenty articles need updating, the Writer fixes wording and tone faster than rewriting by hand.
Anyone who hates the blank page
A first draft, even a rough one, is easier to edit than nothing. The Writer gives you a starting point, you make it good.
Why KnowledgeScout's AI Writer
Works from what you give it, nothing more
The Writer drafts from your prompt or your highlighted text. It doesn't browse the web, doesn't pull from the rest of your knowledge base, and doesn't invent facts to fill gaps. Output stays in scope of what you asked for. If you need an answer grounded in your existing articles, the AI Chatbot is the right tool.
Built into the editor, not a separate tool
No tab-switching, no copy-paste between apps, no separate subscription. The Writer is in the toolbar of the article editor you already use.
Optional, with no penalty for opting out
If your team can't or won't use AI, the editor works as a normal rich editor. No greyed-out features, no nag prompts. Write the way you've always written.
Drafts go to review, always
Whatever the Writer generates is a draft. The human edits and publishes. Nothing goes live silently. Your knowledge base stays a curated source, not an AI's first attempt.
Common questions
Does the AI Writer pull facts from my knowledge base?
No. The AI Writer works from what you give it — the prompt, the highlighted text, the pasted notes. It doesn't pull additional context from the rest of your knowledge base, and it doesn't browse the web. If you need an answer grounded in your existing articles, that's what the AI Chatbot is for. The Writer is for shaping content you've already gathered or sketched out.
Can I turn the AI Writer off?
Yes. The AI Writer is opt-in per workspace. If your organisation has AI restrictions or your team prefers to write without AI, leave it off. The article editor works as a normal rich editor, no AI features visible.
Which plans include the AI Writer?
Every plan, including Startup. Usage draws from your plan's AI credit pool. Business and Enterprise plans add bring-your-own AI key support, which means unlimited writing usage at the cost your AI provider charges you directly.
Does the AI Writer publish articles directly?
No. Whatever the AI generates lands as a draft inside the editor for the human to review, edit, and publish. Nothing goes live until a human says so. Same model as for AI agents writing via MCP — drafts always go through human review.
Can I bring my own AI provider key?
Yes, on Business and Enterprise plans. Connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft Azure OpenAI, or any OpenAI-compatible API key (including self-hosted models). Useful when you have an existing AI agreement or want to use a specific model.
Will my content be used to train AI models?
No. Whether you're using our default AI provider or a BYO key, your content is sent through provider APIs subject to data processing terms that prohibit training on customer data. Each tenant's content stays isolated.
From "I should write this up" to "it's written."
AI writing tools in the editor on every plan. BYO key on Business and Enterprise. Human review always.
